But remember this information is only a guide and it's aimed at healthy adults.
Body Mass Index (BMI) measures a persons weight relative to their height. The Body Mass Index Formula was developed by Belgium statistician Adolphe Quelet .
The formula is designed for adults over 20 years old. Once calculated, Body Mass Index can be compared to weight status categories to determine if an individual is:
- normal weight (BMI:18.5 - 24.9)
If you fall into the category of normal weight - then you should attend 1 or 2 Outdoor Fitness sessions per week in order to enhance your fitness and health.
You will take part in the group wearing yellow or red bibs, and will benefit from a varied medium to fast pace workout.
- overweight (BMI: 25.0 to 29.9)
If you fall into the overweight category, then you should probably attend Outdoor Fitness and begin in the blue group. It will be a matter of weeks before you're ready to progress to the yellow group.
- obese (BMI: 30.0 & above)
If you fall into the obese category, then you should definately come along and take part in the blue group, where you'll get a gentle workout you'll enjoy and benefit from.
Which ever group you fall into, our qualified fitness instructors will be able to support and advise you on your lifestyle and help you get the most out of your training as well as give you nutritional and dietry hints and tips.
